Camila Cabello
Five Official Live Performances and a short film for Camila Cabello’s album C, XOXO. In close collaboration with the artist, we designed a space that feels grounded in reality while still functioning as a dedicated performance stage.
The world design went through around 50 iterations - building more models than I care to remember - before arriving at the bedroom you see above. It was conceived with a transitional feel: as if it began as a childhood bedroom, but the trappings of young adulthood have gradually crept in, overtaking the younger elements.
The finished set hides the fact that it is essentially a stage with multiple levels. A ’70s-inspired conversation pit, movable windows, and a mix of practical and studio lighting help create an uncanny, lived-in reality. Working closely with the director, we built something versatile, offering plenty of space for dancers while still maintaining enough intimacy so Camila never felt lost in the frame.
In post-production, we gave the project meticulous attention. We developed a through-line of graphics, paired with unique designs for each track. I built six different custom lettering sets, including Dade County Dreaming, which I later converted into 3D objects, textured to match the bedspreads and pillows, before exploding them in a shower of feathers.
For the short film, we had some missing coverage, so we introduced chapter-style titles to break up the piece. The existing graphics pack wasn’t fully suited to this, and unwilling to compromise the original designs, we reinterpreted them in a new way. Drawing inspiration from Saul Bass, I created lightly animated title cards - heavily influenced by classic Hollywood - while still referencing the original visual language of the performances.
Finally some VFX clean-ups, some marketing assets, we end up with an excellent suite of content and assets supporting the artists' campaign.
